About the Offering

Level: Intermediate / Advanced

Session 1: 9AM-12PM
Nagare Technique: Contemporary Floorwork

This contemporary floorwork-based workshop combines contemporary with the speed and fluidity of streetdance, capoeira, and house dance. This class activates oppositional forces and contrasting sensations to achieve fluid transitions in and out of the floor. Phrases involve every body part—whether in the air or on the ground. By shifting the focus from an internal dialogue to creating movement that, in its own physicality, can tell a story by itself, the class will delve deeper into the cathartic potential of sweat and exhaustion, while offering a new and active method of expression.

Session 2: 1-5PM
Choreographic Devices & Repertory

Continuing with concepts from the first class, this class focuses on the choreographic devices behind some of Kizuna Dance’s works, including exercises in translating the Japanese language into movement, and teaching excerpts from Kizuna Dance’s repertory.
