Thursday 4/2
7-8:30PM @ & Space
1021 Hamilton Street, Floor 3
DESCRIPTION: Try something, crumple it, throw it away, take it out of the trash, unravel it.
In this class we’ll mess around with somatics and semantics - a practice of words and movement, moving words, words moving us, meaning moving through us, the unraveling of meaning, etc.
We will work with writing (minimal expectations here, all materials provided) and movements that crumple and unravel.
Where are the creases in our bodies when we unravel? How can we work with and inside of each others’ crumples and creases toward a new movement sequence?
Crumpling can be a practice in failure, disruption, crisis, and chaos: stretching our lexicons of improvisation and imagination as we move through, beyond, and toward alternatives.
Hopefully this will culminate in something cool and magical like a total collective doggy pile non toxic land-fill poem of words and movements. Maybe it will be so good we’ll go on tour with it.
LEVEL: Beginner
MASKING: Mask optional.
